Get Kelp

Get Kelp: Support Your Local Sea Farmer

Seaweed Week is first and foremost a celebration of the kelp harvest, which is happening right now! Sadly, only a few of our original 75 restaurants are still able to participate. But Seaweed Week, in partnership with Maine Sea Grant, is adapting to help support Maine's kelp farmers.

For really the first time ever, fresh kelp will be easily available to the consumer. When you buy a bag of kelp from a farmer, you'll be supplied with kitchen-friendly cards to help you prepare and preserve fresh Maine kelp. It can be eaten raw, blanched, frozen, dried, toasted, pickled, fermented, you name it! Recipes and how-to info here.

Please check back to this page often over the coming weeks. We'll be adding more farms.
