Seaweed Row with DoryWoman Rowing: Open-Water Rowing in Stunning Belfast Bay
DoryWoman Rowing is excited to offer this totally one-of-a-kind experience where you can learn about Maine seaweed while rowing in a wooden dory in Belfast Bay! You can row or be a passenger (please note on booking form). An extra special guest will be on board, Kim Grindle of Isleboro Oyster, an aquaculturist who grows oysters, kelp and sea urchin. This row happens at the end of the day, rowing into the beautiful Maine sunset.
In this immersive sensory experience, you’ll get to see, touch and taste several varieties of seaweed, including scoping out a local kelp farm in Belfast Bay. Maine seaweed tea will be served to round out your palette. And oysters! These are available as an add-on to your row and will be shucked fresh on-board by Kim, served with several varieties of mignonette, including a kelp version!
The Seaweed Row is offered on two dates only during Maine Seaweed Week: Friday, April 21 and Saturday, April 29. This row can be booked privately for pairs/couples or as a mixed group of two individuals. Children ages 10 and up are welcome (under 14 with adult supervision). Total on the water time is approximately 1.5 hours. $150 for individuals; $275 for two people (pairs/couples). And the oysters! These can be purchased as an add-on to this row in the DWR Shop, a dozen for $25.
