“Ocean Greens” Zoom Film & Talk with Herring Gut Coastal Science Center

Herring Gut presents “Ocean Greens: A look into the importance of seaweeds and how local businesses are utilizing Maine seaweeds” as part of the Learn, Discover, Grow Series.

Seaweed has been a misunderstood part of our marine world, but is recently being seen as a way to help diversify careers, feed livestock, and help solve climate change. This virtual event will focus on highlighting the importance of seaweed and how mid coast businesses are utilizing these ocean greens. First we will watch the 9 minute film “Ocean Greens” (link below) on the WaterBear network. Then, we will talk to our guest speakers about how they use seaweed in their business! Our speakers are:

  • Allison Lakin from Lakin’s Gorges Cheese
  • Gabriela Acero from Wolfpeach
  • Lauren & Greg Soutiea from the Causeway Restaurant at the Craignair
