Virtual Field Trip: Meet the Seaweed Scientist

Calling all educators interested in seaweed aquaculture and education! To celebrate Seaweed Week in Maine this year, the Maine Aquaculture Innovation Center in partnership with Maine Sea Grant, Maine Family Sea Farms Cooperative, and the University of New England are excited to bring two live webinars to students and teachers across the state. The first webinar on Thursday, May 1st will feature Ken Sparta of Spartan Sea Farms and Jaclyn Robidoux of Maine Sea Grant out on Ken’s seaweed farm showing folks the ropes of growing kelp. The second webinar on Friday, May 2nd will feature Dr. Carrie Byron of the University of New England and Maya Pelletier of the Maine Aquaculture Innovation Center exploring seaweed science in the UNE lab. 

These virtual field experience webinars are meant for educators to attend WITH THEIR STUDENTS during Maine seaweed week! Educators are welcome to attend both events.
