Shifting Sands: Beaches, Bathers, and Modern Maine Art

Gallery season opening featuring seaweed artists! Exhibition: April 29 to July 16, 2023 at the Ogunquit Museum of American Art.

Curated by Donna Cassidy, Professor Emerita at the University of Southern Maine, Shifting Sands explores the unique place that the beach holds in modern art. The beach is now viewed as a fragile environment subject to a changing climate and human impact. Among the exhibitors are two artists associated with the Maine Seaweed Council, Marjorie Moore of Great Diamond Island and Celeste Roberge of South Portland who are both exhibiting seaweed art works.

The exhibit opens during Seaweed Week and will run through July, with Tuesday Talks on July 11, 2023 (details TBA). Museum hours: open daily, 10am – 5pm.
