SUMMARY:A Seaweed-Centered Stroll Through Ellsworth
DESCRIPTION:Join Maine Coast Sea Vegetables for a lively guided Jane’s Walk through downtown Ellsworth that puts seaweed front and center. Meet at 16 State Street on Saturday afternoon\, May 2\, and follow our guide as we visit shops and restaurants taking part in Maine Seaweed Week. At each stop discover seaweed specials\, tastings\, and product displays\, and learn practical tips for using commonly harvested seaweeds. This walk mixes food\, craft\, and industry insight with friendly conversation so you can browse seaweed-based goods\, learn more about the importance of seaweed in Maine and meet people bringing sea vegetables to market. Family friendly\, accessible by sidewalk\, and led by an industry player so the stories you hear are as rooted in the industry as they are in our community. \nhttps://www.heartofellsworth.org/maine-seaweed-week

SUMMARY:Seaweed Week Guided ID Walk 3
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a guided Seaweed ID walk at low tide\, led by Jaclyn Robidoux\, seaweed specialist with Maine Sea Grant and UMaine Cooperative Extension. \nWe’ll explore the shore near Two Lights State Park\, learning to identify native edible seaweeds and diving into their ecological roles\, seasonal rhythms\, environmental benefits\, and at-home uses. We’ll also talk about Maine’s growing seaweed farming industry\, sustainable harvest practices\, and the big role this unique marine resource plays in the state’s coastal economy. \nWe’ll bring the field guides\, seaweed samples\, and snacks to take home—just bring your outdoor gear and questions! \nRegistration: $20. Children 10 and under are free—please note if they’ll be joining when you sign up so we can bring enough supplies. Space is limited. REGISTER HERE. \n  \n\nWHEN: Monday\, May 4th. 5:00 – 6:30 PM \nWHERE: This workshop is being held at Dyer Cove in Cape Elizabeth\, near Two Lights State Park. Parking is available in the lot next to Dyer Cove\, adjacent to the lot for The Lobster Shack at Two Lights. To map to Dyer Cove\, use the address: 225 Two Lights Road\, Cape Elizabeth\, ME 04107. We’ll meet out on Dyer Cove beach at the Seaweed Week table. \nWEATHER NOTE: This workshop may require navigating some slick and/or rocky terrain. Attendees should have proper footwear (rubber boots/shoes with good traction that may get wet) and dress accordingly for a few hours in the Maine outdoors\, especially as it can be colder and more windy on the ocean. We’ll host this workshop in a variety of Maine’s spring weather conditions\, but will notify participants if we need to cancel or reschedule in the case of extreme weather. Thanks for understanding!
