The film explores the qualities that make seaweed a conservation solution and a valuable product\, and how expanding farmed seaweed markets can help address local and widespread challenges. \nPANEL DISCUSSION – 6:45PM to 7:45PM \n\nHow seaweed can be a key contributor to the blue bioeconomy through a diversity of products\, in Maine and beyond.  \nPanelists include: Nichole Price (Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences\, Moderator)\,  Nathan Johnson (Seaweed Farmer)\, Bailey Moritz (World Wildlife Fund)\, and Jaclyn Robidoux (Maine Sea Grant) \n  \n\nThis event is supported by World Wildlife Fund and proceeds benefit the Maine Seaweed Council. The Maine Seaweed Council is a statewide collaborative organization that has supported Maine’s seaweed industry for over 30 years. Working alongside harvesters\, farmers\, researchers\, regulators\, and coastal communities\, the Council promotes sustainable harvest and cultivation practices\, public education\, and responsible management of Maine seaweeds to support healthy ecosystems and working waterfronts.

We’ll also talk about Maine’s growing seaweed farming industry\, sustainable harvest practices\, and the big role this unique marine resource plays in the state’s coastal economy. \nWe’ll bring the field guides\, seaweed samples\, and snacks to take home—just bring your outdoor gear and questions! \nRegistration: $20. Children 10 and under are free—please note if they’ll be joining when you sign up so we can bring enough supplies. Space is limited. REGISTER HERE. \n\n  \nWHEN: Sunday\, April 26th. 1:30 – 3:00 PM \nWHERE: This workshop is being held at Dyer Cove in Cape Elizabeth\, near Two Lights State Park. Parking is available in the lot next to Dyer Cove\, adjacent to the lot for The Lobster Shack at Two Lights. To map to Dyer Cove\, use the address: 225 Two Lights Road\, Cape Elizabeth\, ME 04107.
