Free\, for all ages. \nJoin us Saturday\, April 26th 2025\, from 11am to 4pm for Seaweed Saturday at the Gulf of Maine Research Institute in Portland. Activities at Seaweed Saturday will highlight seaweed in art\, food\, and science\, featuring dozens of local seaweed farms\, businesses\, and organizations. \nMaine Sea Grant will offer hands-on seaweed identification workshops and demos. Local artists will exhibit their seaweed-inspired works. In the marketplace\, seaweed farms and businesses will showcase their seaweed products to taste or take home. \nNEW this year\, we’ll have expert talks and panel discussions on kelp aquaculture\, science\, product development and more in GMRI’s beautiful Cohen Center. DESCRIPTION:Join Nor’Easter Oyster Co. for a Saturday seafood pop-up at everyone’s favorite neighborhood bar\, Lambs. In honor of Maine Seaweed Week\, they’ll be serving complimentary samples of their soon-to-be-released Maine Oyster Chowder\, crafted with locally harvested oysters and enriched with hand-harvested wakame from Springtide Seaweed\, Maine’s largest organic seaweed farm. On the raw bar\, they’ll have available for purchase a selection of Maine oysters and scallops\, shucked and served on the half shell\, with accompanying seaweed mignonette. The Lambs team will be slinging amazing their full lineup of local beers\, organic wines\, and craft cocktails. This pop-up is a fantastic opportunity to taste their chowder before it hits retail shops! \nAbout Nor’Easter Oyster Co.  \nNor’Easter Oyster Co is an aquaculture business with a mission to create new revenue opportunities for Maine sea farmers by purchasing excess oysters which would otherwise go unused\, and transforming them into value-added products. \nTickets not required – just drop in 4-6 pm!
