Each sculpture begins with one specimen of wet seaweed that is wrapped around a form. The figures emerge from the ever-changing morphology of the drying seaweed. On Seaweed Week’s official 3-hour Casco Bay cruise\, we’ll visit a kelp farm to see harvesting in action\, hear from Maine Sea Grant’s seaweed scientist Jaclyn Robidoux\, sample seaweed food and drink\, and more. Departing from Portland\, the tour is hosted by Heritage Seaweed owner and Seaweed Week founder Josh Rogers. We’ll be on the Fogg Casco Bay Cat\, which takes off from the Portland waterfront. Tickets are super limited and will go fast! \nLearn more and get tickets here! \nTime: Boat departs at 10am and returns at 1pm. Bring your own snacks (but we’ll also provide some seaweedy bites!)
